The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposes to establish
emission standards for new non-road spark ignition engines. The
standards would apply in 2009 for new marine spark-ignition engines,
including first-time EPA standards for sterndrive and inboard
engines. The agency is also proposing evaporative emission standards
for vessels using these engines. Comments on the proposal should be
submitted by August 3. 72 Fed. Reg. 28097 (May 18, 2007).
