What I do is to lead both the suction and discharge hoses (I have to add some to the discharge hose) into a 5 gal bucket with about two gallons of water in it and start the pump. Then I add about a quarter gallon of muriatic acid to the water and let it run for about two minutes. I stop the pump, let it drain, and replace the dirty bucket with another bucket about half full of water and rinse the system. Then I reconnect everything.
The inlet strainer is bronze, the pump plastic, the heat exchanger bronze and the hoses rubber, all of which hold up well to two minutes exposure to the acid. I cannot think of anything that would be harmed by my technique and it is very effective, that's why I do it.
This technique rids the system of all debris as far as I can tell, especially biological things, like shellfish, that are not removed by other means.
I notice you are into Gene Therapy. I saw on English TV while over there last month that they injected DNA into two blind person's eyeballs to restore operation of the rods and cones. Have you been following that and what can you tell us about how it worked?

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to deep-clean the water circulation lines in a marine A/C? I blew out some debris a couple of weeks ago using city water, but the growth/buildup has returned. I was told that muriatic acid would damage the inside of the AC.
Thanks,
Harris
