    RE: Subject

There is almost as much hokus-pokus about the subject of lightning as
    there is on religion.

Pick a position, and you will be able to find some documentation to
    defend it.

The fact is that there is very little known and even less understood
    about lightning.

ONE thing is known, lightning takes the path of least resistance to
ground which translates into the fact it doesn't bother to turn corners.

A set of battery jumper cables or a length of anchor chain with one
end shackled to a shroud and the other dangling in the water for each
upper shroud, fore stay and back stay during possible lightning
conditions probably affords as much protection as any other system.

It is relatively low cost, can be used for more than one application
    or stowed when not needed.

Probably good as some, better than most solutions.

As the old saying goes, "Ya pays your money, ya takes your pick."

    Lew
