Vancouver Island is another example of this stupidity.
All the cities and towns on southern end of the island, with includes the city
of Victoria, dump ALL their sewage UNTREATED into the ocean.
All those little cities and towns should really be merged as one city now, but
all the mayors like having their own little kingdoms. They all think it would
be "nice" to have a few large sewage treatment plants but they don't want to
pay for it and they don't want them in their town. They have been "talking"
about it for decades.
And yet... all you hear is:
"Oh no !... some seafood is unsafe to eat !... the harbour smells like
sewage !! "it's can't be the million people on land pumping their poo into
the sea... it must be those boats and float homes"
The older I get the more I realize that a majority of people are basically
illogical selfish morons.
I love the water so I'll do whatever I can to help protect it and all the
wildlife in/on it.
They have made holding tanks mandatory for all vessels.
So I have my holding tank... it's either full.. or maybe I'm in my berth,
hooked up to the marina's sewage system.
Hmmm..... where does that sewage go ? What am i paying for ?
Well I pay money so that sewage can be pumped into the municipal sewage
system, which then pumps it directly into the sea.
Question:
How effective are treatment systems like Electrasan compared to the output of
a commercial sewage treatment plant ?
Surely, someone can combine a holding tank with a treatment method that ends
up dumping COMPLETELY harmless organic waste into water.
Have a great weekend !
