Odd how people have different experiences. About 10 years ago, I used
Peel-Away to remove about a decade's worth of ablative bottom paint applied
by my boat's previous owner, and the results could only be described as
amazing. Before starting, I bought a random orbit sander expecting to need
it to finish the job off, but never took it out of the case. The hull was as
clean as a whistle, right down to bare white gelcoat when I got done with
the Peel-Away. It was a bit pricey, and pretty messy, but overall WAY less
labor intensive than sanding would have been.

Years later I convinced a friend to go this way, he had a terrible
experience, and cursed me regularly for my suggestion for several years
    afterwards.
