I would never sand blast my boat's hull.
I faced a similar problem of the PO having used hard epoxy paint for 17
years. The paint was 3/16" thick. I planned on hiring a soda blaster
after my attempts using Peel-Away proved slow, labor intensive, gooey
and not particularly successful.
However the yard manager at the yard I was going to use said he was
trying to sell his soda blast unit as he had a contractor who had
designed a blade scraper which could be set for specific depths. Said
he'd been using the fellow for a couple years now and would never soda
blast again. I hired the fellow for $500 and in a few hours he had taken
99.9% of the paint off, leaving just a faint trace which I easily
removed with an orbital sander. I'd suggest finding someone doing a
similar process. It is far more controllable than blasting with any
substance.
