    Dear Live-Aboards,

I received the letter below from a friend. Unfortunately, I'm too
tied up this year to do such a delivery, so I've promised to circulate the
request. Chris' respone to my initial reply is appended at the bottom.

                            Cheers,

                                    Stefan

Hi Stefan. I was sorry to have missed you at the UTFA book launch a few
    weeks ago.

My husband, Bruce, bought a 38 foot Finnsailor boat (a ketch) (I think it
was built in about 1980) in the British Virgin Islands. He bought it last
summer and has gone down to clean it up and outfit it to bring it back to
Canada. Since he may not have the opportunity to have the boat in the
Caribbean again, I have given him up to 3 months to enjoy himself and to
    bring it back to Toronto.

He went down a few times since then to arrange for it to be painted, etc and
met several people so he though there would be no problem getting crew to
sail with him and to hire a captain to help bring it back to Canada. He
also had somebody from the Humber College Sailing School to come down and
captain it back but he no longer can do it. Bruce left last Thursday and
the people he had lined up to crew and possibly captain have all left the
island. He may still be able to find somebody to crew for him around the
islands and possibly a captain but he is not certain. You are the most
experienced sailor I know and thought that I would contact you to see if you
could provide any assistance or advice. Bruce has done some sailing and has
taken courses but is not experienced enough to bring the boat back himself.

My point is, I know you are an experienced sailor and know a lot of people
who enjoy sailing. Do you know anybody who would like to go down and join
him for whatever time they like and do you know anybody who could captain
the boat back here (one provision is that we can pay them and for their
flight down but we are on a budget).

I expect him to be back in Toronto by mid to late May and he will spend the
rest of the time sailing around the Caribbean (I know he was thinking of
visiting the not very well known Spanish Virgin Islands) and then up and
around to Miami where he may spend a few days to pick up parts for the boat.

Anyway, if you know of anybody, or if you can pass the word around, I would
    greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you.

    Take care.

    Chris Penn

    Response to my reply:

Hi Stefan. Thanks for helping with this. It would have been great if you
could have gone along for the ride.

He is pretty flexible. If we could find somebody, he would be willing to
cut his time short and start coming up within the next month or it could be
as late as the beginning or mid-May. It doesn't even have to be a captain
but somebody who has done the trip before and has had some experience or
even somebody who wants to go have some fun and wants to mix a bit of
    business with pleasure.

    Thanks again.

    Chris
