As an alternative to the Baby Blake consider the Wilcox-Crittenden "Skipper" made in USA. The last I looked they sold for about $1000 but I have seen used ones for sale at SailorMan in Ft Lauderdale FL. All the metal in them is bronze. There is no plastic except for the check valve flaps and gaskets which are some sort of rubbery material.
I have used mine since 1988 on a daily basis. I have replaced soft parts twice but it need new pump bushings now although it is still working well.

One of the leading candidates is the LAVAC.
REPLY:
I have just installed a LAVAC Popular on my IP 29.
I have not used it yet, but the fellow who installed it was very impressed with its simplicity, robust construction, and apparent ease of maintenance.
I chose it because I had a Baby Blake on my Mason 44.
It was the finest head I have ever owned, built like the engine on the night train to Edinburgh.
Blake makes both heads, but the Baby Blake is hugely expensive (ca $4,000), and not sold here in the States.
I am off to Bermuda in late May, and thence to Maine. I’ll post a report when I return.
Best.
