We too have the Verizon ("near broadband") service. We have their
EVDO card working out of a 3 year old MAC Titanium laptop, and also
networked to other computers onboard as well. If you have a Verizon
cell, as we do, they cut the price to $59 for the wireless service.
The card works well in all major cities, but if you are out in the
other areas, you get dial up speeds.
They do have restrictions on the broadband card. A number of folks
have reported cancellation if they use it for streaming video or
music. They apparently want you to use it for 24/7 connectivity for
all the net EXCEPT U-Tube and playing music. If your throughput
equals too big a number they will cancel the service - according to
reports of others - but I have not had that experience obviously.
For email and downloads though it works pretty well.
