    Reply;
    Such purpose designed retrofit led light bulbs have been available for
    over a decade now from

    www.firststarled.com

    Disclaimer; I do own the Co. that makes these lights, and was the first
    in the world to market such a light.

    As for warm color temperature leds for cabin lights, it is no longer an
    issue as some of the new Lumileds models and the Jupiter model of Nichia
    America Corp. for example can be had with a wonderful color temp that is
    exactly like that of an incandescent bulb.
    For marine navigation lights, the trick is no longer being able to get
    leds that are powerful enough, it is in being able to use the new leds
    to produce the correct sector of light at the correct intensity
    throughout without putting light where it should not be (for instance
    bright red needs to be next to bright green with no fuzzy transition),
    and do this in a compact cost effective package that supplies power to
    the leds at the voltage needed no matter what the input voltage may be
    while wasting as little electricity as possible, and maybe most
    important of all nowdays, the device must get rid of all the heat the
    leds make!
