bow would have allowed a loaded ship to a. turn or b. stop.

when i referred to a bow lookout i was suggested the coal boat should have
had one i have to say they are typical on VLCC's when travelling inshore we
had an incident the other week here in Scotland going through the Pentland
First most likely in a wind against tide conditions in a F8/10 when it is one
of the nastiest places in the world they lost two men when a wave came on
board - they were not drowned but suffered serious internal injuries when the
VLCC tried to be a submarine.
