A friend bought a pair of off brand folders with disc brakes. I could not
get the brakes to stop rubbing and I consider myself a good bike mechanic.
Suggest you avoid disc brakes and that you test ride any unknown models.
The no-name bikes also had impossibly short seatposts. The Dahons that I
have had 6 years now still work great. A derailleur guard should be added,
otherwise folding and storing the bike bends it, making adjustment
impossible. Replacement tires should be purchased ahead as 1.50 or 1.75X20"
are no longer stocked in local stores, they have been replaced by 1.90X20
which do not fit within the fenders and have a lot of rolling resistance.
