Pelican makes nice waterproof cases but pricey.
We use a lot of "Lock n' Lock" WWW.hertiagemint.com boxes on board. Mostly in the galley, but also elsewhere as in the required gear, flares, registration, whistle, etc in the dinghy too.
They are very watertight. We replace the dinghy one yearly due to sun damage.
We love them and highly recommend them.
You can get silica gel in hobby shops. It is used for drying flowers.
There are some waterproof bags out there, try Army-Navy shops, used for combat conditions, but I like hard boxes better for equipment on board as they offer better impact protection.

Subject: lv-ab: Storing camera equipment on board
Hi
Got some camera equipment I'll be storing on board and wanted to know if any of you photographers out there had any recommendations on how to store it to avoid the equipment getting attacked by the usual nautical environment. Waterproof bags? Moisture crystals?
