I am sure of that! Looking at the way the torpedo compartment is
buckled, bulging outward, I expect they had to cut the front end off aft
of that location. I cannot begin to calculate the costs.

Same reason that caused the crash of the sub off Hawaii. The one
demonstrating an emergency blow, coming up under a japanese fisheries
school training vessel.
