Well my dream of using airless tires on my
    bicycle is now officially dead.
I talked to the guy at the factory. He said he
has had a few people with Zap motors try to use
them and there is a problem.
The airless tires do not have as much 'give' as
pneumatic tires so the motor's rotor slips. One
can put as much pressure as is possible (the
height of the motor is adjustable, but then you
have to be able to move the lever to press the
rotor onto the tire) and the rotor still slips.
     Oh well.
There IS hope for airless dinghy wheels though!
They sell tire/wheel sets with a total diameter of
12 inches, 14 inches etc and 4 inch width that are
filled with a CLOSED CELL foam. That means
immersing the tire while one is motoring from the
boat to the shore will cause no water to saturate
    the inside of the tire!

There is the possibility they will soon be able
to foam fill a tire I provide to get the motor's
rotor to NOT slip. He said to check back in a
    year...
