Hello All,
I was just having a night of insomnia, so I
decided to try and set up the CMAP program
provided on the "Cruising DVD" sent to me.
Here are the little difficulties I ran into.
First the program will not let one install it
until one sets up the font size and screen
resolution to a setting that means I can not read
anything on the screen. So I have to get out the
10X magnifier and move the keyboard out of the way
(so I can get close enough to the screen to focus
the image in the magnifying lens). After I read
each piece of instruction, move the keyboard back,
put the glasses on again... you see my problem.
Second, the program will also not let you install
it until you set the color down to the 256 level.
OK, no big deal, but why?
Then the program actually wants to know everything
about the boat. Does it really need to know the
offset of the GPS antenna from the centerline? Oh
well...
I do have an actual question though. When I
copied the 'carts' and the 'aux charts' the
computer kept asking for permission to overwrite
existing files. I finally clicked 'Yes to All'
just to get through this step. My question is,
should I have created a subfolder for the 'aux
charts' to get the program to find all the charts?
I'm thinking there may have been a list of charts
or something like that, and if so I now only have
the 'aux charts' list.
Thanks
