Actually access from the BVI's with your boat without a real US visa is
easily arranged - just take the ferry from Sopers Hole to Cruz bay and as a EU
citizen you will get a 90 day Visa waver - at the same time have someone with
legal access to the US sail the boat over to Cruz Bay for you - then once your
in the USA with a visa waver you can top it up with a weekend trip back to
the BVI's and back to the USVI's ON THE FERRY when the first 80 odd days are
up. Slightly naughty but perfectly legal as you are not then entering the US
on your yacht but on a commercial carrier and your yacht is cleared into the
US legally by someone with the correct documentation - you would of course
need to get your yacht cleared out legally but at Cruz Bay i was told i could
clear in and out all at once just by telling them how long we were going to be
in the USVI's however when we cleared out at Charlotte Amalie St Thomas they
said that was not correct - though i am sure the CB folks see many more yachts
than the CA people also in St Croix when we cleared in we had to tell them
what to do and for how long we were allowed to stay as they had no
idea......sounds like Homeland INsecuity is a bit of a mess with people doing their own
thing and interpreting the rules as they see fit.

David
