I'm in a bad situation where a man at anchor close to me has threatened to hurt me including untying my dinghy and other things in which cutting my anchor line or trying to sink my boat may be factors.

Hopefully it was mouth. However, in the case it wasn't someone already told me to get familiar with the old flare gun and keep it close.

Meantime are there some swift good old salt tricks for:
keeping sugar out of the outboard tank?
tying up a dinghy to an anchored boat or dock super securely?
rigging up an alarm system that is simple?

I read in an old cruising manual that throwing roofing tacks on the bow was a great way to alert you to approaching headhunters.

    That's about my budget.

A police report has been filed. I need two to get an injunction. Now I have to deal with the practical. I can't afford another incident.
