it is the only practical way to get drinking water from your flotation water.

the maintaince is not too bad if you do the original design and construction well. if you do, then maintenance mostly consists of cleaning the filters.

gallons per hour varies with size and power consumption. my big watermaker requires the genset, and i'm not sure how many watts it needs total. the specs list 15 amps at 110 volts for the high pressure pump, but nothing for the feed water pump or electroincs and solenoid valve. rated at 25 gph output, it has settled to 17 gph for years. this is in seawater. in the st johns river, which is not very salty, at this moment it is pinning the product flow gauge at way over 30 gph.

my Spectra, when it was working, put out about 8 gph and used about 10-15 amps at 12 volts if i remember correctly. , on this list, did extensive cruising with his Spectra and had mostly good to say about it. perhaps he would give the list a summay of his experience.

whether they are worth it or not depends on how else you can get your fresh water

    Water makers in general,

Are they maintenance heavy, do they require a lot of energy to run, How much water can you make in an 8 hour period, r they worth it?

I have no experience with them.
