The best way to get space shuttle tiles is wait below the shuttle during
takeoff, (and in some cases, explosive reentry), and wait for a few
tiles to fall off.
Seriously though, what is the price of aerogel? Does anyone have any
specs on compressive strength, sheer strength, and actual R value?

the space shuttle tiles are fragile and expensive unlike Aerogel which
is slightly less fragile and expensive :)
