    one problem with this i see is heat bridges through the supports between
    the inner and outer cases of the box needed because the aerogel cannot
    support the inner box.

    i have long thought of using an open cell foam with inner and outer boxes
    connected together airtight then sucking a vacuum on the space with the
    foam in it.

    some company has made plastic wrapped foam slabs with vaccum inside but i
    would not trust these to last. i would want to be able to refresh the
    vacuum from time to time as needed.
