my theory,
back in the stone age, which went on for a very long time, after breakfast
the men would stand at the cave entrance looking out and planning their
day, while the women would stand at the cave entrance looking in and
planning their day.

It is a very good question, something I have often wondered about. Is it
> more some genetic tendency or society and culture that cause more men
than
> women to do many things such as go to sea in small boats? I think the
answer
> is probably that it starts with a genetic underpinning that creates a
> tendency or a bias and that gets amplified and selected by social and
> cultural mores.
