I think I could not withstand the loss of my drill press. With a vise
mounted on it I use it almost every day. Smaller bench versions are
    available.

I have an expensive Bosch 1582VS sabre saw that is worth every penny.

My $100 plastic base 10" table saw gets a workout.

I use my router occasionally, with a straight edge makes a perfect edge,
and with ball bearing guide makes perfect roundovers too. I buy only 1/2"
    shank carbide bitts.

My Ryobi RE 321 belt sander is a workhorse and I can hold it in one hand.

I have three Dremels, with different bitts on them, straight 1/8" carbide
with round end, drum sander and cut-off wheel (and lots of spare bitts).

I like my Porter-Cable orbital sander better than the less agressive
    Makita.

I get a lot of use from Jan's 3/8" variable speed and bi-directional drill
motor. The best feature is that the chuck key snaps into a spot right on
the top of the drill motor case.

A wood scraper with various blades is valuable when refinishing brightwork.

It would also be a good idea it you can arrange to have a Home Depot
    nearby...
