Yes, my first electric priming pump failed after about 20 years of
intermittent service. I only used it briefly for starting and servicing
the fuel system.
When it did I bought two new ones. I installed one and used it for a few
weeks then installed the second one and put the first one aside as a spare
knowing I could rely on it when needed. The second one failed after a few
operations so I returned it to the NAPA store for replacement. The
replacement worked fine.

Also note that the electric pumps are prone to failure (the one on my
> Cummins runs continuously and I monitor it with a fuel pressure gauge). A
