lv-ab: Engine question

    Here are a couple more data points on the "how much horsepower"
    question. We have a Grand Banks 49 trawler weighing about 60,000 lbs,
     having a lot of windage, and a fairly inefficient hull shape by
    sailboat standards. To punch through head seas and a stiff breeze at
    something close to hull speed takes about 180 to 200 horsepower.
    Running a knot or so slower in calm conditions takes about 120 hp.
    These estimates are based on fuel burn rates.

    How does that compare to predictions?
