    Norm,

I think the problem is that this unit cannot compensate for much
roll, so it really does not have an independent 3-D axis mechanism.

The phase array will compensate for some roll, but maybe not enough
to be useful in an anchorage, but probably enough at a dock...

This is the one I am interested in too because seems to have no moving
parts, no gyro stabilized dish, but is a solid state phased array unit.

Last week I called KVH and asked sales person about the A5.

She told me it was tried on boats and did not work. She was incoherent
about why. Claimed it was made for cars and that boats moved too much,
even at anchor. She even claimed that there was a dish involved. I
    highly
doubt everything she said. I suspect I either got an ignorant
    salesgirl or
else greed is involved and she wanted to get me to buy a more expensive
    unit.

I was hoping there was someone on the list who has some experince
    with this
    unit
