I have aluminum tanks and can't use bleach. I have found good information
on using hydrogen peroxide. Amazing what it can be used for....and
actually has health benefits in the right amount.....where as bleach is
toxic.
Feb '96 SAIL Mag. said "1/2 to 1 oz. 27% Hydrogen peroxide per 10 gal
water". (I found at pool supply store). If you are interested I can send
articles off line, I have several.

Subject: Re: lv-ab: how much clorox in water tanks?
I have just finished articles for both SAIL and Voyaging magazine on
this very thing. Here is my quote:
"Please note that water with bleach in this quantity is not for
drinking, it is only for cleansing. You can use bleach for purifying
questionable drinking water but at a much lower concentration,
Specifically, use 1/2 teaspoon bleach per five gallons of water."
