I am sitting here with a vinyl cutter about a foot away, so I'll offer a
qualified yes to this question. Vinyl cutter can only think of graphics in
terms of the line describing their outlines (which the cutting knife then
follows), so scanned images must be converted to an outline format with
tracing software such as CorelTrace or Adobe Streamline. The success of
these conversions depends on the graphic your trying to trace. Highly
detailed graphics don't trace as well as those composed of simpler shapes.
Almost anyone with a vinyl cutter will have tracing software, and will be
able to tell you in a flash if your logo is cutable.

    > Do the auto-type stick-ons work OK on boats?

They work like a charm. 90% of boat graphics you see out there are done with
vinyl. The secret to long-term success is the type of vinyl used. Make sure
to specify "caste" vinyl, which is engineered for longer life outdoors.
Again, almost any sigh cutter working in this market will use caste vinyl.
You might also want to try a local sign shop or even an internet shop to
compare price to your auto detailer. Vinyl cutters are everywhere!

    Best regards,
    Collin
