    I think that I was suggesting that the direction in which the thread was going was foolish. Why buy and ship when you can get the same thing cheaper down there and not break the letter or spirit of the law?

    Also, if you are a transient and will shortly be leaving their country with the imported item, is their a legitimate way of getting the duty back or not paying it? Stories from French colonies in the Pacific suggest you get stuck with the duty regardless.

    Sorry about the size of the type, but some of us old farts need larger fonts. Whatsamatta with blue? This is a boating list ain't it?
