The description of 'dangerous or prohibited goods' doesn't vary much from
airline to airline (in my limited experience). A NEW ourtboard that has
never contained gasoline is just an assembly of mechanical parts. Mechanical
parts are not prohibited. They asked if it was in its original packing, was
sealed etc. they had no idea what to ask. "Leave on all the tags and
tickets" they instructed.
ok BUT a friend had his gas powered hooka dive compressor CONFISCATED AND
ITS NOT COMING BACK - got as far as STT then got confiscated before they were
allowed on the STT - EIS flight.
and it came with / was travelling with - a totally clean certificate - it
was just as you put it an assembly of mechanical parts.
the question refered to a S/H outboard - taking a new one into Tortola is
going to be very expensive tax wise.
i would also question your assertion that a new outboard had never been
test run.
