am purchasing a Leopard 38 catamaran that will remain in a charter fleet
in Tortola, BVI. I need to provide an outboard for the dingy, and have an
extra in Ithaca, NY. Is there any economical way to ship an outboard to
    Tortola?

I doubt it as the BVI government are like Gordon Brown the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer they love their taxes :-(

get it to St Thomas and sail over and collect it and don't say a word to anyone

OOOOPS i never ever suggested that :-(

who are you putting the boat into charter with?

      regards
