Mine were in fact top line. They are a just a barley bit 'dirty' inside. I
wanted to get them cleaned and repurged with dry nitrogen or whatever is
used. When I contacted Steiner, I was told sure they would service them, for
a servicing few plus very high shipping to Germany (only service center),
total about 200$...that was when they were about ten years old. Now at 20
some, I have still done nothing...That is a downside to them, only a Steiner
tech can service as special tools for only them are needed.I don't know if
other brands are like that or not.-Ken
