A number of years ago I bench tested 10 pair of Fujinon "top of the line"
binoculars and found significant differences within the same model. The
modulation transfer functions (MTF) varied by 15-20% at all spatial
frequencies from best to worst. I was told (unverified) that, at least at
that time, many Fujinon's were assembled by independent shops. I bought the
best of the sample and have been happy with them for 30 years.
