I don't think you owe anyone any apology. There are a
few states that, through apathy or ignorance or
whatever their reason for not voting and not
participating in public life, seem to regularly allow
their lunatic fringe minorities to dictate public
policy.

When people do that they deserve any derision they
get. If they feel bad enough about it, then maybe
they'll get off their duffs and take their government
back.
