It is also almost impossible to get a 100% stoichiometric burn which
means they also produced CO as a combustion by product.

I used an unvented kero heater once and never will again. It produces water
and noxious fumes.
I used an diesel heater with stack for a winter or two. It worked good but
had to be run hot to keep it from smoking.
The best, according to a large thread several years ago, is circulating hot
water heated by a diesel "boiler". The diesel "boiler" does require maintaince
and the parts are pricey, but the hot water circuit is trouble free and
cheap, truck heaters and plastic hot water pipes.
