I know of a previous thread discussing the attributes of anchors such as
Bruce, CQR, and Delta; but I have just learned of a new anchor being made in
Australia, I believe. It is identified as a Manson Supreme, and is available in
either stainless steel or galvanized, and in a range of sizes, with custom
sizes available. It is a plow type anchor, with two attaching positions. One is
a fixed hole, for anchoring in sand bottoms, the other is a long slot hole,
allowing the shackle to slide forward as the boat is driven over the anchor,
which will self-extract the anchor from rock or coral. There is also a round
ring roll bar, which self-rights the anchor.
I have a Danforth, style anchor, with a loop shank, with the same attributes
of allowing the attaching ring to slide forward when driving over the
anchor, and to self-extract the anchor.
Although I am in inland waters, I thought this new anchor might be of
interest to the group as a whole.
