Norm,
My admiral thinks that a top loading refrigerator would be a PITA to
use as a live aboard! A freezer, OK, but not the refrig.
What sayith thee?

They very easy to use. The two units sit side-by-side so when one unit is
open the other is a staging platform. We have plans to have sheets of stainless
cut to glue on the tops.
With each unit came with three baskets. The baskets have movable handles
that can be set to ride the lip of the opening or lowered into the unit. I added
small cords to the edges of the baskets to provide easy hand-holds to lift
the top baskets to get to the bottom ones. This makes it a snap to lift one of
the upper baskets and set in on the ajacent unit to expose the lower basket.
Also partnered with the reefer and freezer are Lock&Lock storage boxes.
These (belive it or not) are sold by The Heritage Mint. They have silicone rubber
o-rings and a locking tab on each edge. They are absoutely watertight, even
if upside down. We use a tall one in the freezer to make our ice. We dump
the chunk of ice produced into a plastic tub in the freezer and have at it with
a "ice shaver" (a five pronged ice pick) from Cape Pond Ice Co of Gloucester
to produce drink size chunks. Works great!
