I went to change the oil and oil filter on Nekkid Joy over the weekend and
discovered that the replacement cartridge-type, screw-on filter that West
Marine sold me isnt the right part.

My 4-108/108 has a metal canister at the top rear of hte engine with a
single bolt through it from the bottom and an O-ring seal at the top.
Removing this, I expected to find a filter *element* inside (akin to the
guts of the cartridge-style filter), but it was *empty*!!! (except for
    about a qt of oil.

I tried West Marine (and 2 auto parts stores) here lcoally, the guy at
West Marine happened to have a 4-108 in his boat and verified that the one
in their catalog works on his boat.

From the top of the filter mount, it says
    AC
    FILTER D702
    ELEMENT AC70

in slightly raised letters (at least that's what i think it reads - i did
    a pencil rubbing, it's a little smudged.

I searched online a bit this morning, didnt find any such oil filters.

Any ideas what filter i need and where to get it? Or a place to cross
reference this info to a comparable filter?

    thanks,
    jim
