You only got one reply to your post, so I want to step
in with another thought. I used to own a boat with a
2 cylinder Volvo engine with raw water cooling. About
once a year I had to take off the manifold and take it
to a radiator shop where they "boiled" it -- I am not
entirely sure what that means but it involves heat and
I suppose immersion in an oil bath? At any rate the
process removes corrosion that builds up inside the
manifold from exposure to seawater. This eventually
blocks the flow of water entirely or at least
partially and the engine overheats. You can ream out
the passages to some degree with screwdrives or stiff
wire or brushes, but the only way to get it completely
clean is the radiator shop procedure. After cleaning
mine two times, the overheating problem disappeared
for the next year or so. After two repetitions I sold
the boat for various reasons made sure that the
current boat has fresh water cooling.
