    I just got back from a fishing trip in Mexico, going on a 107 foot
    boat. On the front was a device I'd call a winch, similar to most
    winches. Just about like what you'd see on the front of a 4 wheel
    drive pickup, but much bigger. It was spooled with about 1" cable
    and had the anchor on the end. No chain, no capstan. They used it
    numerous times a day. It worked quite well.
