Hi Malcolm,
You're getting some great advice here. I'd recommend getting the boatwork done in Trinidad as I've heard the prices are workmanship are better value than further north although I have no specific places to recommend .
We've had our boat (Jeanneau Lagoon 37 foot cat) hauled in Caracas, Venezuela. We're getting the bottom cleaned, sanded, gelcoat repaired and 2 coats of bottom paint for $1,000 US. A bit out of your way perhaps but then again the area represents good value ( low price, high workmanship) that we've found. My collegue Bill found the place. He's down there right now and he thinks it's a very good deal.
I think you should price out the cost of a skipper to sail her north. My guess is that it could cost you tens of thousands of dollars for a professional yacht moving service. Alternately you could find someone here on these lists who would do part or all of the voyage for free or a much cheaper rate.
I'm puzzled though. Why would you want to bring this boat to Lake Ontario? It's much more boat than you need or want on the lake with it's spring winds and summer doldrrums. You can buy a nice 36 footer locally for around $20K US.
I'd buy the ketch and leave her down in the caribbean.

I am going down to Trinidad in 2 weeks to look at a boat, that my wife and I
may end up buying.

We would store it on the hard in Trinidad until Christmas, any
recommendations of yards to store at,
I have heard of Coral Cove Marina & Peakes Yacht Services.
At Christmas we would sail it up to St. Martin (we would have 3 weeks, is
that enough time), put it
on the hard until May/June (any recommendations of yards to store at), then
hire a skipper to help us
sail it to New York (via Bermuda) and then up the Erie Canal to Lake Ontario
& Toronto.
We also may want to get some boat work done in St. Martin, any
recommendations here?
Any comments from experienced Caribbean sailors are welcome!
