I was sailing around the local anchorage yesterday, taking
some guests out for a day sail. we passed an anchored boat
with a wind generator busily running in light air -- 5-8 kts
-- and it sounded very quiet, as in "couldn't hear it at
all" despite calm conditions and light air, just ghosting
along. the skipper was just getting his dinghy out so
we made a close pass by and asked him what brand his generator
was.
he said it was a "FourWinds" and he liked it very much.
so I looked them up online. pricey at almost $2K US.

but it was certainly *very* quiet.
they offer other 'home power' stuff. I'll give the site
a read when I have a chance.
btw, whoever it was who was happy with their SunDanzer
freezer, I have a question for ya -- can it be turned down
a few notches and used as a fridge/cooler instead, at lower
power consumption? if one does not want freezing but just
cooling (extend life of veggies fruit and cheese) can it
be used as a cool box rather than a really cold box?
