Some industrial motherboards such as this DFI board can have a com port
configured through jumpers on the board to supply +5v or +12v to the
connected RS232 device. If you have such a board you can power your Garmin
GPS thru your computer power supply with this cable or make a custom cable
using the pfranc plug.
