Hi all,
Just an update on the transmission situation I wrote about last month. Took the trany out and brought it to the expert here in miami. It needed some new parts made, replaced a gear lining (which was some kind of rubber/asbestos type of material) with brass. Difficult job, but a success. Today I tested it, and it works, but it is difficult to get it out of reverse, takes a strain on the cable/rod. Forward is perfect, no problems. The expert says that it will wear down a little and work better after some use. Any suggestions, tips, or anyone have a similar experience? I am afraid .that the cable may snap or something. Has anyone had that experience? How much stress do those cables handle?
Thanks so much for all your input.
Regards,
Margie
