Interesting ... The bronze thru-hulls with plastic
hose and clamps are the only way I've ever seen things
done, in my limited experience, which has all been on
fiberglass boats.
I love the idea of having thru-hulls made of solid
material up to above the water line. I guess you
could do this with copper pipe from the bronze
thru-hulls, although it would be tough in some places
to get the height, like under sinks, etc., and to get
to the top to attach hoses and clamps.
But I would also sleep better with that setup. I'll
have to see if I can modify mine next time it is out.
