I dont have a heat gun, so I put the end of the hose into a jar of boiling
hot water, then lube with dishsoap. Also, I find I sometimes don't have the
strength to push the fitting into the hose, but am able to push the hose
over the fitting when the fitting is immobile ie: fitting against some
immoveable object like a seat or the hull, then push down with both hands
and body weight. I also wear my mooring gloves, to keep my hands protected.
