Keep in mind that batteries will give off hydrogen when charging.

If you are going to place circuit breakers near the batteries, you MUST make
sure that they are ignition protected...in other words...insure that when
they open or close they do not cause a spark.

A spark in a hydrogen filled battery compartment will cause a substantial
explosion.
