It is possible to have the best of both worlds. ACCO makes chain they label as "SL" which stood for Simpson-Lawrence. It is high-tensile BBB. I thought that it was no longer offered, but I found it by accident at an online store. My 3/8" SL chain has a working load of 5200 pounds. That's the good news. The bad news is that you have to hunt down shackles and accessories which also have that strength - not easy, but doable.

I agree about all-chain rode, and don't like high test because of it's relative light weight. I have BBB.

I do like the snubber and have had no problems with it, but perhaps it depends on the boat.
