    I do like the snubber and have had no problems with it, but perhaps it
    depends on the boat.

    While it is true that a stainless part, such as a swivel, will damage steel
    anchor gear. But the slot problem can be fixed by simply installing a nut and
    bolt in the space you don't want the shackle to go.

    We do end-for-end our chain when the links rust so much they don't fit the
    wildcat anymore (they get farther apart). When this other end doesn't fit the
    wildcat, we get new chain.

    I also set up my chain so I can cut the bitter end on deck. I can also
    unshackle it below decks. Have a fender handy to tie on to the chain so I can get
    it later.

    I do like the Bruce, had a 66 lb model, now have a 110 lb.
