Nearly lost my 36' sail boat at Sooke BC while ashore returning to water
just below floor boards. The locking nut on stuffing box vibrated loose and
water was flowing in. I could hear the Rule 750 gph auto bilge pump working
but it was not pumping. After removing from its seat and shaking it up,
pumping started.
Apparently, the cause of pump failure was due to some bends in the discharge
hose (not straight line or gradual slope upward). Not much of a pump in my
view.
My question is: I would like to install a tank with a pump inside of it
(west Marine has one) that will take both head and galley sink outlets; plus
add 2 auto pumps in the bilge which would make 3 bilge pumps including the
manual whale pump. All of this discharge potential (3 bilge pumps, and the
outlet from the tank accepting the galley and head sinks) I would like to
direct into one hose out of the bilge outlet on the stern. I would
appreciate any advice on this.
Very truly,
Gary
